yuletide 2021 letter
dear yuletide author,
Happy Yuletide 2021 and thank you for writing for me! I'm sorry in advance for my kinda tbh aimless letters, I'm the kind of hell client who doesn't know what they want except for vaguely liking certain characters/series... lmao... but on the flip side, I’m generally easy to please! So long as it doesn’t include anything in my dislikes section.
My carrd is here to give you an idea of my fandom tastes, and below this paragraph is a quick rundown of likes and dislikes. The likes list is just whatever’s off the top of my head, just because it’s not on the list doesn’t mean I dislike it! It’s definitely not an exhaustive list, feel free to use them more as trains of thought to depart from and not a locked-in list.

Mahoutsukai no Yakusoku
Access: the game is free to download/play (through QooApp on Android or iTunes JP store) and the team at mahoyaku-eng.com is doing an excellent job translating!
About: Mahoyaku is a mobile game featuring 21cats wizards you, as their Sage, have to wrangle together in order to address the yearly Great Calamity (ep1 spoiler, it’s the Moon). Some of these wizards have lived literal centuries/millennia, and naturally, they are so so Fucked Up.
Prompts: Damn. I'm still in this hell, huh
1. I really like Oz and Figaro as childhood/young wizardhood frenemies/"rivals"/reluctant allies under the mortifying ordeal of being taught magic by Snow and White. If you think about it, the Northeners as a whole are just. So So So bad at Socializing and Dealing With Feelings and just being human overall—they have always been wizards first, humans second, and I love the difference between their powerful wizard conquest years versus their current selves (Dads with adopted children).
2. I also really like the painful-but-still-pining exes that Figaro and Faust can be. Figaro fucked up everything and it is his fault he has done everything wrong yet they're still drawn to each other, even after centuries of pain and separation and emotional baggage. someone help faust why do you have terrible taste in men (says me, a figaro oshi)
The Case Files of Jeweler Richard

About: A broke college kid rescues our titular handsome Jeweler Richard one night from a bunch of drunks—from this fateful encounter starts a part-time job at his jewel store, where he encounters various people and their stories. With each case Seigi—our broke college kid—comes to grow and develop while watching the complex bonds between humans unfold through the jewels that cross their paths, all while perfecting the craft of royal milk tea.He's still working on the "not complimenting his boss's beautiful face out in public within earshot of others" part, though.
Prompt: I watched the anime and kept whispering "these bitches gay" at least three times each ep. Then I read the novels and threw my phone across the room while screaming, THESE BITCHES GAY. they're so in love. do not separate seigi and richard at all costs
My smoothe braine aside... I'm anime-only and still catching up to the novels but what I love about their relationship is how despite appearing incredibly perfect, and usually being the adult between the two, Richard has his little moments of childishness (e.g. driving while cranky and having Seigi feed him caramels by hand, or being incredibly nitpicky about the flavor of royal milk tea). And Seigi simply rolls with it, naturally picking up new details and adding them to his running mental tabs of "Things about Richard". I'd love to see more of Richard's childish side come out, or see him in a situation where he relies on Seigi. Or, to get into r18 territory, to see him be less buttoned-up (figuratively, or literally, i guess?! both do work?!?) and give in to how much he wants Seigi.i simply think richard should yank seigi by the expensive designer tie that he bought him and kiss him breathless... what is a tie but a silken leash...
Chihayafuru

About: This is the tale of three childhood friends and their crossing paths through the world of competitive Karuta, featuring a lot of feelings and pain and good ol' Character Development. This is a sports anime wrapped up in the delicate, thoughtful feelings of a shoujo manga.
Prompt: I have a disease it's called "i go into shoujo series and come out shipping the male love interests"... why am i like this........
anyways. idk man i just think arata and taichi are very very important to each other, even though both are in love with chihaya. manga spoilers ahead, i just think a WHOLE LOT about how both of them really felt the weight of each other's gaze during their matches, always cared what the other thought of them, and in Arata's case he had a Whole Moment where he was like "huh Taichi is sitting across from me—wait, am I? on guard?? around Taichi of all people???" and. and just the way their attitude towards each other is so much more than just "love rivals" over Chihaya... that entire hug after the Meijin Qualifiers match... they are SO SO IMPORTANT to each other and really do respect one another?? also I think taichi just needs a good hug and a makeout session to vent all his self-imposed stress with someone who already knows what a petty bitch he can be especially since arata knows it was taichi who took his glasses!
I also like the addition of Chihaya as an OT3 if you'd like to try that route!
